Abandoned Funds

Husky Dollars are the only Husky Card-based account eligible for refund when a student or faculty/staff member departs the University. These funds are opt-in and are funded via payroll deductions or credit/ debit card payment. Other accounts stored on the Husky Card including Dining Dollars, Bonus Bucks, the Printing Allowance, and all other accounts are subject to their respective policies and not eligible for refund. Students who graduate with a Husky Dollar balance remaining on their account will receive a refund posted to their Student Financial Services account after their degree is conferred.

Faculty/Staff departing the University should contact Husky Card Services during their offboarding process to request any remaining funds be included in their last paycheck.

Any Husky Card holder who is no longer active, and believes they may have departed the University with a balance on their Husky Dollars account may contact Husky Card Services to verify and initiate a refund if warranted.

The Husky Card Services team audits accounts regularly and all patrons who have left the University with Husky Dollar balances which have been inactive for more than their home state’s abandoned funds dormancy period are reviewed for refund. In accordance with state laws, patrons with a remaining Husky Dollar amount equal to or above their state’s aggregate amount will be contacted via their last-known address in an attempt to return those funds. If no response is received, funds will be sent to the State-Run Unclaimed Property Division in the state of the patron’s last-known address. These dormant funds which have been sent to the state can be verified, if eligible for refund, by searching the State-Run Unclaimed Property Division’s website for the state of the patron’s last-known address.
